Airtable, the 13-year-old spreadsheet-database company, agreed to be acquired by Bending Spoons for $1.28B in cash — the Italian acquirer's first deal since its $18B IPO last month. Counting Airtable's net cash, the company is valued at about $2.25B, against the $11B+ it commanded at its 2021 peak and the ~$4B its shares fetched on secondaries earlier this year. It raised more than $1.4B to date, and ARR grew 20% YoY to roughly $480M as of June. Bending Spoons (Evernote, WeTransfer, Vimeo, Eventbrite) typically trims staff and streamlines products post-close — and Airtable's senior bench has been emptying for a year already.
